Alphonse Puthren meets ‘Mount Everest of Cinema’ Kamal Haasan for first time: ‘Fell on his feet, took blessings’
Filmmaker Alphonse Puthren recently met Kamal Haasan for the first time ever. Taking to Twitter, Alphonse posted a photo of the duo posing for the camera. In the picture, Alphonse opted for a blue shirt and brown pants while Kamal was seen in a green T-shirt and black trousers. Sharing the photo, Alphonse captioned the post, “Met the Mount Everest of Cinema Ulaganayagan @ikamalhaasan for the first time in my life. Fell on his feet and took his blessings. Heard nearly 5 to 6 small plots of cinema from his mouth…I took small notes in a span of 10 minutes with a pen in my writing book.”
He also wrote, “For him as a Master it was his experiences he shared… but as a student I was scared whether I would miss out any of the content he told. Thank you Universe for this and thank you Mr.Mahendiran & Mr Disney from @RKFI for this Unbelievable & Surreal and Beautiful experience (heart face and red heart emojis).”
Reacting to the post, a fan wrote, “Very good to see both legends.” “Watching my two favourites in a single frame,” read a tweet. “Many congratulations. You are so lucky,” said another person. “Both please collab and do a soulful movie,” tweeted another fan. “Bro take care of your health and give us good movies like Premam..Your short films were also too good,” read a comment.
Alphonse’s last directorial was the Malayalam film Gold released in 2022. The crime comedy film was written and directed by Alphonse. The film stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Nayanthara, Mallika Sukumaran, Shammi Thilakan, Lalu Alex, Baburaj, Ajmal Ameer, Shanthi Krishna, Jagadish, Krishna Sankar, Roshan Mathew, Vinay Forrt, and Saiju Kurup.
In 2021, Alphonse on Facebook had announced his project with Fahadh Faasil. However, for reasons unknown, the project never hit the floors. The Malayalam film was titled Paattu.
Kamal was last seen in Vikram which did a worldwide business of over ₹400 crore. Helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Vikram featured Kamal, Vijay, and Fahadh Faasil in lead roles. He will be seen in Shankar’s Indian 2 and Mani Ratnam’s KH 234.
