Setting up a smart home comes with several benefits such as automating lights, scheduling geysers, remote operating and more. One feature that probably goes unnoticed is the ability to find your misplaced smartphone in your house.
Now, misplacing smartphones isn’t new and it keeps happening at times. Sometimes it slides between the couch cushions or we leave it accidentally in a cupboard, etc. Now, there are options that allow you to ring your smartphone. However, a lot of steps are involved such as access to a PC or another device, log in, etc.
What if we tell you that there’s a simple way to do this and that to just use a voice command? But, before that, you’ll need a quick setup. Follow our step-by-step guide:
Set up Alexa Calling
For Alexa to be able to find your misplaced phone, you’ll need to enable the Alexa Calling feature. Follow the steps:

  • Open the Alexa app on your smartphone
  • Tap on the Conversations tab at the bottom menu
  • Now, follow the on-screen instructions to enable Alexa Calling

How to use Alexa to find your misplaced phone
Once Alexa Calling is enabled and ready, finding a misplaced phone is a fairly simple process. All you have to do is ask Alexa-enabled smart speaker or smart display to find your phone or call your phone. If Alexa Calling is enabled Alexa will ring your device. Just make sure the Alexa app is installed and linked with the same account as your device at home.
Voice commands:
Alexa! Call my phone
Alexa! Find my phone
Alexa! Ring my phone
Things to keep in mind
If your Alexa device is linked with multiple accounts, you’ll need to set up an Alexa Voice profile. This will allow Alexa to recognise your voice and ring the correct smartphone. Also, the phone can not be in silent mode. Also, the feature works until and unless the phone is turned on and is connected to the internet, irrespective of the fact that it is lost or misplaced.
