Air ambulance service, diabetes centre at SGPGI to begin in Nov – ET HealthWorld

Lucknow: The much-awaited air ambulance facility at SGPGI is expected to get functional from November, announced the institute’s director Prof RK Dhiman on Friday.

Speaking about the institute’s journey over the past year, he said: “A number of new beginnings is what we look forward to now. The emergency medicine department and trauma centre and renal transplant centre with air ambulance services is likely to start in November 2021.”

He added that the advanced diabetes centre to provide comprehensive diabetic care under one roof and the liver transplant programme are also expected to start soon to ensure that no patient from UP is compelled go outside the state for such treatments.

He also said that the institution is making efforts to set up an advanced pediatric centre to provide state-of-the-art services to this group which forms 40% of the state’s population.

According to the director, 119 doctors across specialties and 61 nursing students were awarded degrees at the event.

Exemplary research work by faculty and students was also awarded on the occasion.

Chief medical superintendent and faculty in the department of endocrine surgery Prof Gaurav Agarwal was conferred the Prof SR Naik Award and Sangam Rajak from the same department was felicitated with the Prof SS Agarwal Award for the best research paper.

Prof RK Sharma Award for best DM and MCh students will be given to Dr Pankti Mehta of clinical immunology and Dr Shitangsu Kakoti of urology department, respectively. All degree-holders and awardees were congratulated by Governor Anandiben Patel who told the doctors never to lose humanitarian touch as they have a social responsibility towards mankind.
