Cardio neurosciences patients at Delhi AIIMS to get free drop service

New Delhi: In an initiative to provide better medical care, All India Institute of Medical Sciences’s cardio neurosciences centre has started a free drop facility for patients after they get discharged from the centre.

The service is available only to the patients discharged from the cardio neurosciences centre and is not applicable to private ward patients and day-care patients (same-day admission and discharge), according to the standard operating procedure issued last week.

To avail the facility, however, the patient has to be a resident of Delhi. According to the terms and conditions, the patients would be dropped anywhere within the boundaries of the national capital. Currently, the service is not available for transportation to other NCR locations. Also, since it is not an ambulance facility, the patients who must be ferried in a recumbent position are not allowed to avail this service. According to the standard operating procedure, a maximum of one attendant is allowed to travel with the patient.

The service can be availed on a ‘first come, first served’ basis during 10am and 6pm from Monday through Saturday.

The patients cannot change the drop location as mentioned at the time of booking. According to the standard operating procedure, the patients should not give a tip to the attendant or the driver of the vehicle. In case of any grievance, the matter can be reported at the phone number – 011-26593322.

The department also offers other such outdoor services, including Mission DELHI (Delhi Emergency Life Heart-Attack Initiative) – an initiative to implement a 24-hour emergency motorbike ambulance response system to provide prehospital thrombolysis service, using clot buster drug (Tenecteplase) for cardiac related complications and rapid response system for out of hospital cardiac emergencies. Last year, this service was further expanded and more areas are now covered.
