age of empires 4: Age of Empires 4: What Microsoft revealed at GamesCom 2021 – Times of India
In an unprecedented move, Age of Empires IV will be augmented with 28 unlockable videos under its Hands on History series. The videos are filmed in different locations with experts on the subject and will try to give people a better idea about the lifestyle of the humans of the featured civilisations and the challenges they faced in medieval times. Microsoft showed one of the videos in which the mechanism of firing a trebuchet is shown. The video was shot on location at Warwick Castle in England with mechanical engineer Dr. Shini Somara. Take a look.
Call it a hands-on history lesson if you prefer, but Microsoft has upped the immersion game with the new series.
Age of Empires IV: New campaigns
The Age of Empires IV team also gave a first look at the hitherto unannounced civilisations and campaigns; The Rus, The Holy Roman Empire, The Rise of Moscow and The Mongol Empire.
The Rise of Moscow will be available to the players at launch. Two units of the Russian forces were showcased: the Streltsy and Warrior Monks. As per the team, “Streltsy’s combination of axe and gunpowder partnered with the conversion capabilities of Warrior Monks will make a Rus army a force to be reckoned with.” The Russians’ major strength will be in their cavalry and the civilisation would be skilled at hunting, trading and construction.
The Holy Roman Empire comes with a powerful infantry army and early access to religious units. Their Prelate unit can perform the dual functions of supporting and healing their brothers-in-arms. The Landsknecht with their double-handed swords were also seen in action in the trailer.
Age of Empires IV launches on October 28 this year but can be pre-ordered now on Windows Store and Steam.
