A Californian bungalow gets a facelift with a fun twist

The home
A four-bedroom California bungalow in Melbourne’s south-east, featuring a pool and a studio office.
Who lives here
Kerri Wallace, homewares importer of the Klaylife and Weylandts brands, her husband Luke, founder of tech company Flowstate.Zone, their daughter Sloan, 7, and son Zephyr, 5.
What we did
“I admire the work of artist Prudence Caroline, who also dabbles in interiors, and she gave me endless inspiration,” says Kerri. “Together we dreamed up the look. Then we gave the previous 1980s renovation a facelift and added a pool and Luke’s studio office in the yard.”
My favourite room

“The powder room, because it’s so fun, unexpected and dreamy,” says Kerri. “It always receives a gasp of delight from our guests.”
The ’hood
“The street is filled with young families, and we are a stone’s throw from the beach and park,” she says.
Future plans
“We’ll landscape our front garden and re-do the back decking and entertainment area,” says Kerri.
Best advice
“Colour sparks joy for us, adding good vibes to our home,” says Kerri. “We prefer soft colours with a pop of red to add an edge.”
