U-23 World Championship silver medalist and debutant Pooja Gehlot won the bronze in the women’s 50kg
August 6, 2022 was a very good day for the wrestlers at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.
Indian wrestler Ravi Dahiya won the gold medal in the men’s freestyle 57 kg category. He defeated Nigeria’s Ebikewenimo Welson. Dahiya won the match on tecjhnical superiority with 10-0 margin. The match lasted two minutes and 16 seconds.
After the gold of Ravi Dahiya, Vinesh Phogat also clinched gold in the women’s 53kg at the games.
Vinesh Phogat scripted history by becoming the first Indian women to win the gold at both Commonwealth Games and Asian Games. She also became the first Indian women to bag three consecutive gold medals at the Commonwealth Games.
Another wrestler and U-23 World Championship silver medalist and debutant Pooja Gehlot won the bronze in the women’s 50kg. She defeated Scotland’s Letchidjo by technical superiority (12-2)
