Zomato, Swiggy down in India: popular food ordering apps experiencing outage due to technical glitch
Update: Both Swiggy and Zomato food ordering apps are now up and running again. Users can now continue to start ordering.
Not everyone has the luxury of carrying meals from home to work every day, many people rely on Swiggy and Zomato, which are popular food ordering apps that are widely used across the country. However, it appears both Zomato and Swiggy are down in India as multiple users are reporting that they are unable to order food through the apps. Downdetecter is currently showing that Zomato and Swiggy are down, with users reporting issues in accessing both apps. Apparently, there’s a technical glitch with Amazon Web Services and this could be the reason for the Swiggy and Zomato outage in India. Sadly, the issue has happened during lunch hours.
Hi Sahil, we are facing a temporary glitch. Please be assured our team is working on this and we will be up and running soon.

Users have started reporting issues accessing the apps around 2 PM IST on Wednesday, which is a working day. Swiggy and Zomato apps were briefly up for a couple of minutes around 2:30 PM IST but were down again. Amazon Web Services is apparently the culprit for Swiggy and Zomato becoming inaccessible. This isn’t the first that a web service is down due to an outage with AWS. Back in December, Facebook, Amazon, Ring and others were down for the same reason.
Both Swiggy and Zomato have acknowledged the issue and said the teams are working on fixing the issue. This comes as users flock to social media to complain about apps not working. Swiggy and Zomato combined are valued at $20 billion and dominate the food delivery market in India.
