Vodafone Idea expands 4G network capacity in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana circle – Times of India

Telecom operator Vi (Vodafone Idea) has announced that it has completed the process of migration of 3G spectrum to 4G in majority of its sites in Hyderabad and Warangal.
In a statement, the company said that this is part of a bigger exercise undertaken by the company to migrate its 3G spectrum to 4G across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana telecom circle, of which it has already completed the exercise in Vizag district, Vijayawada, Guntur and Kakinada towns.
Additionally, Vi has also deployed 5Mhz of 2100 MHz band in these cities, with an aim to offer higher download and upload speeds apart from better indoor coverage.
Commenting on this, Arvind Nevatia, cluster business head- Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Karnataka, Vodafone Idea said “The latest network augmentation initiative is our endeavor to offer our customers an enhanced 4G experience to complement the surge in data demand. Supplementing the existing 4G infrastructure with the expansion on 2100 MHz layer has brought about enhanced data speeds, besides a better indoor network experience for Vi customers in Hyderabad and Warangal. We have seen a significant growth in data traffic in these two cities post the completion of 3G to 4G refarming exercise. Efforts are on to complete this exercise in the rest of AP & Telangana at an early date”.
Last month, Vi had announced that it is going to offer a free Rs 49 pack and a new combo voucher RC79 to its low-income users base. The move was aimed to help these users them stay connected.
The Rs 49 pack offers talktime worth Rs 38 and 100MB data and has 28 days validity. The RC79 combo voucher worth Rs 128 (64+64) offers the benefit of double talk time and 200MB of data with a validity of 28 days for a limited time period.
