iOS 17.2 beta update

  • The iOS 17.2 beta SDK has three new internal frameworks — FactoryOTALogger, FactoryOTANetworkUtils, and FactoryOTAWifiUtils. These frameworks enable wireless OTA firmware updates by using a special external device, 9to5Mac reported.
  • This confirms what had been reported earlier about Apple using a pad-like device where you can put the boxed iPhones, and the software update will be installed.
  • So when a new software update is released, this device, this device will be able to wirelessly turn on the iPhone, download and install the software update and turn it off. This way you won’t need to open the sealed iPhones, and all of them will go out updated with the latest software update.
  • Apple plans to introduce this system in its stores before the end of the year. With evidence of the system already available, it looks like we will see it very soon.

The reason behind introducing this system is reportedly due to an issue with the new iPhone 15 models. There were users who faced an issue during setup that made them unable to transfer data from an old iPhone. A software update was issued to fix this bug but it couldn’t be installed without setting up the iPhone.

This new system would also help in situations where certain don’t update their iPhones to latest iOS version. These updates are critical for bugs or any issues that usually occur whenever there’s a new update.
