Voot-JioCinema merger close to being complete

If you try to reach the voot.com website, you will be redirected to JioCinema. The Voot Lite app also opens up to JioCinema, 91mobiles can confirm. This clearly indicates that the JioCinema-Voot merger is almost complete. The Voot app has also been removed from the Google Play Store and App Store, so you can’t download it anymore.

JioCinema had already begun the transition for Voot users by offering a code to transfer their profiles to the former’s platform. Voot Select users were also offered a promo code for the JioCinema Premium membership that launched in May at Rs 999 per year for Hollywood content. The merger doesn’t result in any loss of content though as you can find all Voot shows and movies on JioCinema. 

Voot’s merger with JioCinema is part of the company’s bigger plan to become the top streaming platform in the country. JioCinema signed major deals, such as the one with Warner Bros. Discovery to stream popular HBO shows like Game of Thrones, The Last of Us, and Succession. It also signed a deal with NBCUniversal for shows like The Office and Parks and Recreation. 

Jio also bagged streaming rights for IPL for five years, making it another popular destination for cricket enthusiasts in the country. Now, with Voot’s vast TV programming and Bollywood content, JioCinema does have a lot to offer subscribers.
