Now is the best time to adopt a foldable phone thanks to Galaxy Z Fold5

Samsung has announced the newest range of its flagship foldable phones through its Galaxy Unpacked event and everyone is very excited.

The newest two devices in the Samsung ecosystem, including the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 and the Galaxy Z Flip5 – building on innovations from the Galaxy Z Flip4 and the Z Fold4.

Competition among foldable phones is heating up and Samsung has proved that it wants to continually innovate year after year to make sure it has the best foldable tech on the market.

But for many Brits, buying a foldable phone might never have crossed your mind, or maybe you’ve heard negative things about the early attempts at foldable phones. Well, Samsung has just wrapped its latest star-studded Galaxy Unpacked event in Seoul, South Korea …and it might be the best time to invest in a new folding phone.

Foldable phones and the technology behind them have continued to improve year after year and Samsung is continuing to innovate with its newest smartphones.

The Galaxy Z Fold5 is slimmer and lighter – making it more portable than ever before. That’s important as the foldable screen inside this phone measures a palm-stretching 7.6-inches …a size that could be a real headache if the form-factor wasn’t so slim (the Galaxy Z Fold5 measures just 15.1mm in thickness) and you’ll still be able to enjoy gaming, Disney+ films, WhatsApp video calls, and Netflix shows on that big, bright, and beautiful screen.

The paperback book-like approach of the Galaxy Z Fold5 means it feels as if you have a tablet in your pocket at all times.

Another approach is that taken by the Galaxy Z Flip5, which uses the folding glass screen to make the handset as compact as possible.

New to the Galaxy Z Flip5 is the bigger 3.4-inch Flex Window, which means you’ll be able to continue replying to text messages, adding calendar appointments, and checking Google Maps directions while you’re out and about without unfolding the phone each time.

At the centre of each phone’s innovative design is a finely crafted and bespoke Flex Hinge mechanism, which lets you open and close the handset. Samsung has designed the hinge to be strong enough to support the screen at a mind-boggling number of angles, so you can use the Galaxy Z Fold5 like a laptop on your desk or film with the Galaxy Z Flip5 like a camcorder.

With its fifth generation of foldable, Samsung has improved its double-rail hinge design to make it stronger and more durable. Both folding phones are rated for 200,000 folds – that means you can unfold your Galaxy Z phone 100x every day for the next five years.

Both new phones use the latest generation of Gorilla Glass, dubbed Victus 2. This toughened glass helps provide resistance to scratches, bumps and knocks. Samsung includes water resistance up to 1.5m deep for 30 minutes – disproving the myth that foldable phones are delicate!

The best thing is you can enjoy all-day battery life for both devices with a 3700mAh battery in the Galaxy Z Flip5 and a massive 4400mAh battery in the Galaxy Z Fold5.

One thing that can be daunting is the price of each phone but these days, there are ways you can spread out the payments or trade in your old phone to save money. You can either use the Samsung Upgrade program or Samsung Recycle so you can make that new foldable phone much more affordable.

Samsung’s latest announcement at the Unpacked event has proven that foldable smartphones are here to stay, and if you’ve remained on the fence for a while now, buying either could be the best investment you could make if you absolutely love your smartphones.
