Jio: Reliance Jio announces new International roaming plans, starting at Rs 121 with 2 days validity – Times of India

Reliance Jio has announced new international roaming (IR) plans for its users. The telecom service provider has added a couple of new IR plans along with that it has also retained some existing IR plans. However, this time around, the company has categorised the plans to offer a better understanding and help users choose the right plan as per their requirements.
Reliance Jio updates its IR plans: What has changed
Earlier, Jio used to offer plans on a random basis. Meaning, users usually used to see all the plans available for the country they are travelling to. However, the company has now organised the plans into five categories — Travel Pass, Roam More Packs, International Wi-Fi Calling, Global Packs, and IR Data-Only Packs. All the categories of IR plans offer different benefits and cater to users’ requirements differently.
Let’s take a look at what each category offer:
Travel Pass
As a part of the new Travel Pass, Jio is offering three plans with different validity. These plans are valid for 32 countries. The base plan is priced at Rs 499 and the other two plans cost Rs 2,499 and Rs 4,999.
Rs 499 IR plan: Comes with 1-day validity, offers 100 minutes of voice calling, 100SMS and 250MB of data. Also, incoming calls are free with Wi-Fi calling option turned on.
Rs 2,499 IR plan: Comes with 10 days validity, offers 100 minutes of voice calling, 100 SMS and 250MB of data. Incoming calls are also free with Wi-Fi calling.
Rs 4,999 IR plan: Comes with 30 days validity, offers 1500 minutes of voice calling (outgoing), 5GB high-speed data, post the data quota, the speed reduced to 64Kbps. And, the incoming calls are free with Wi-Fi calling in this plan as well.
Jio Global IR plans
Global IR plans include two plans — Rs 1101 and Rs 1102. These plans are valid for over 130 countries. The Rs 1101 plan comes with Rs 933.05 usage value and has 28 days validity. Users will also get 5 SMS for free with this plan.
The Rs 1102 plan comes with Rs 933.90 usage value and has 28 days of validity with 5 free SMS.
The difference between the two plans is that the Rs 1101 plan does not include Wi-Fi calling, while the Rs 1102 plan supports Wi-Fi calling. With Wi-Fi calling, Jio will charge Re 1 per minute for both incoming and outgoing calls and also Re 1 for calls to India.
Jio Roam More IR plans
Jio Roam More IR plans have three plans and are valid for 44 countries. This includes Rs 1,499, Rs 3,999 and Rs 5,999.
Rs 1,499: Comes with 14 days validity, offers 150 minutes of outgoing and incoming voice calls, 1GB high-speed data with speed reduction to 64kbps after the quota is over and 100 free SMS.
Rs 2,999: Comes with 30 days validity, 250 minutes of outgoing calls, free incoming calls with Wi-Fi calling, 4G high-speed data, 64kbps unlimited after data quota and 100SMS.
Rs 5,999: Comes with 400 minutes of outgoing calls, free incoming with Wi-Fi calling, 500SMS, 6GB high-speed data and unlimited data at 64kbps after data quota.
Jio Data Only IR plans
As a part of IR Data Only IR plans, the telecom service is providing a total of four plans. This includes Rs 999, Rs 2,999, Rs 4,499 and Rs 5,899.
Rs 999 plan: Offers 1GB data and 7 days validity
Rs 2,999 plan: Offers 5GB data and 7 days validity
Rs 4,499 plan: Offers 8GB data and 14 days validity
Rs 5,899 plan: Offers 10GB data and 21 days validity
All these plans offer unlimited data post the data quota at 64kbps speed.
IR Wi-Fi calling IR plans
These plans are only aimed at offering international calls to India. Two plans are being offered and are priced at Rs 121 and Rs 521. The Rs 121 plan offers 100 minutes of incoming and outgoing calls with Wi-Fi calling and 2 days of validity. The Rs 521 plan comes with 10 days validity and 500 minutes of calling.
