Threads App: Threads will soon allow users to edit posts, use hashtags and more – Times of India
As per Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, the company will add an edit button, hashtags, and a following page, among others. These features are certain to arrive on the Threads app, Mosseri confirmed. The edit option on the app will enable users to edit their posts, the following feed will display posts of accounts that users follow. In addition, Mosseri also revealed that a translation option to transcribe text is also in the works.
In a response to a feature request related to the “Following” tab, the Instagram head said, “We’re working on it, but the next week is all about getting rid of bugs and keeping the lights on…”
“We’ve got to build a following feed over the next couple weeks, but I do think a lot of why people are getting so much engagement right now is because you don’t need to follow a bunch of people to discover a bunch of new accounts in feed,” Mosseri added in a reply.
Earlier, the head of Instagram, in response to a feature request related to automatically deleting posts after 90 days, said, “I was thinking 30 but make it a user choice, but maybe 90 if better…” Once the feature is rolled out, the Threads app will automatically delete the posts after 90 days.
Threads will not ‘replace’ Twitter
Threads has made it clear that it doesn’t want to replace Twitter in any form. Mosseri, in a thread, said, “The goal isn’t to replace Twitter. The goal is to create a public square for communities on Instagram that never really embraced Twitter and for communities on Twitter (and other platforms) that are interested in a less angry place for conversations, but not all of Twitter.”
