Apple is changing the ad format for developers on App Store – Times of India

0

Ads on Apple’s App Store have been around for a while. Now, Apple is making a few changes to the ad format, as revealed by the company. According to a support page on Apple’s website, the company is making certain changes to the ad format on the App Store. Apple said that for developers, “With a Today tab ad, your app can appear prominently on the front page of the App Store.” Under the new format, ads will be fully visible on the Today tab, no longer requiring scrolling to see the entire ad.
On the support page, Apple also told developers that existing campaigns will change over to the new format in July. “No action is needed to keep your ads running. They’ll switch to the new format automatically, and will run continuously unless you set an end date or change your campaign status to Pause,” the support page notes.
The new format will only run on iPhone devices using iOS 16.4 and later. Today tab ads won’t be available on iOS 16.3 or earlier, or on iPad.

Apple’s new updated ad guidelines for developers

Apple has also issued a set of new guidelines related to ads for developers. The company has made clear that the developers’ app icon, name, and subtitle can’t include images that are considered violent, offensive, sexually explicit, or otherwise inappropriate. Further, images containing guns, weapons, or graphic violence are not allowed.
Since Apple already has categories like game of the day and app of the day, developers cannot use the same phrases in their app icon, name or subtitle. Apple has also made clear that “app name and subtitle must match the language for the associated country or region where your campaign is set to run.”
Also, no pricing, offers, ranking, or other incentivized promotions are allowed in app icon, name, or subtitle. App rankings and app awards claims are also not allowed, stated Apple.
