Apple: Apple Vision Pro developer kit applications to open in July: What is it and how will it work – Times of India
During the launch of the Vision Pro, Apple mentioned that the mixed-reality headset won’t go for sale until early 2024. Until then, the company is set to produce an Apple Vision Pro developer kit that will help app makers to create apps for the headset before it is officially released. However, Apple has confirmed that the developer kit will be available for a select number of developers.
Apple Vision Pro developer kit: How will it work
Apple usually offers developer kits for its unreleased hardware to qualified developers after they go through the application process. The company usually offers loaned devices which developers have to return later on. Apart from the developer kit, Apple also provides other assistance to developers.
The company will also provide developers with compatibility evaluations for apps and games. With this evaluation, Apple will offer reports on how apps are appearing and behaving within VisionOS. The company will also open developer labs in six locations — Cupertino, London, Munich, Shanghai, Singapore, and Tokyo. At these labs, developers will be able to get hands-on time and experience their apps running on Apple Vision Pro.
With the developer kit, developers can quickly build, iterate, and test the experience of their app or game on Apple Vision Pro. Developers who already have an iPad or iPhone app on the App Store will also be able to apply for the Vision Pro developer kit.
