NEW DELHI: A record 23rd Grand Slam title on Sunday helped Novak Djokovic reclaim the number one spot in the latest ATP rankings. Djokovic recaptured the top spot from Carlos Alcaraz following his remarkable triumph at the French Open.
The victory propelled Djokovic, 36, to start his 388th week atop the rankings, surpassing all previous records. After his resounding success in Paris over the weekend, the Serb climbed two positions in the rankings.
Meanwhile, Rafael Nadal, a stalwart of the tennis world, dropped out of the top 100 for the first time in 20 years.
Alcaraz dropped to second place while Daniil Medvedev, who crashed out in the first round, also slid one place down to third. Roland Garros runner-up Casper Ruud remained in fourth place.
