In a recent post of appreciation for Indian street food, Japan’s ambassador to India, Hiroshi Suzuki, shared a montage of himself relishing a vada pav in Pune, Maharashtra. The video captured the ambassador’s joy as he immersed himself in the flavours of this iconic snack. In the caption, he wrote, “I love street food of India…but thoda teekha kam please! [But please make it less spicy]”. Well, Indian street food’s desi spices are what actually make it a hit.

This video became an instant hit on Twitter. Foodies wanted the Japanese ambassador to taste their regional cuisines. There were many suggestions like, “Please try mirchi Bajji in Hyderabad”, “Enjoy Bikaner’s Kachori too”, and “Sweet lassi or Mango Mastani is a must after having this”. 

“You should try Rajasthani food” and “Try Bihari Litti Chokha too” stated a few.

“Excellency, please have Chana Bhatura, golgappa, Ghewar, Bengali sweets, Dhokla, all traditional thalis & snacks. If you want company, we all are happy to join”, wrote an excited user, who wanted the ambassador to try it all.
