Apple reveals an all-new MacBook Air laptop with one very big upgrade

0

Apple is holding its yearly WWDC developers conference at its HQ in Cupertino with the US technology giant set to lift the lid on a swathe of software updates including its all-new iOS 17 software that will land on iPhones later this year. However, this year’s keynote wasn’t just about new operating systems with the US firm also showing off a brand new MacBook Air with one very big upgrade.

The latest laptop from Apple now comes with a massive 15-inch display – that’s the biggest we’ve ever seen on the Air range. Until now it was only the more expensive Pro laptops were available with larger panels but that’s no longer the case.

That extra space should make this new Air perfect for those wanting more room to watch movies, work and play games on the move. Along with being bigger, this screen also gets impressive technology such as 500nits of brightness.

Apple is also boating that despite its size, the new Air remains super portable with it weighing in at a reasonably lightweight 1.3kgs. That’s compared to the 16-inch MacBook Pro which features a design with a less backpack friendly 2.16kg. It’s also just 11.5mm thin which should make it perfect to pop in your bag.

Head under its aluminium shell and it’s powered by Apple’s latest M2 silicon which means it will easily cope with tasks such as 4K video editing, photo retouching and answering endless emails. In fact, it’s around 12 times faster than the best intel powered devices.

Other features include an impressive webcam, MagSafe charging, two USB-C ports and 18-hours battery life.

It will arrive later this month in numerous colours including Midnight and Starlight.

UK pricing will be announced soon but in the US it will cost $1,299. It can be ordered from today.

Along with that new MacBook Air, there’s also a new Max Studio desktop PC coming soon which now comes with new M2 chips including the M2 Ultra. That makes this one of the most powerful PCs on the planet.
