12-minute Spider-Man 2 gameplay introduces Symbiote Spider-Man, Miles’ Web Wings, and more
Spidey fans rejoice! Sony and Insomniac Games released a 12-minute gameplay video of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 during the PlayStation Showcase on Wednesday. The highly-anticipated sequel is set to release this fall and we finally have new details ever since the first teaser came out way back in 2021. Watch the 12-minute gameplay footage below and let’s dive into some of the key highlights!
Symbiote Spider-Man looks menacing
Ever since the announcement trailer back in 2021, we knew Venom was going to be part of Spider-Man 2. While we don’t see Venom in this gameplay trailer, we do see Peter Parker donning the iconic Symbiote black suit, which comes with its own set of powers! Insomniac Games says you’ll love hitting the L1 button while playing as Symbiote Spider-Man. The fighting mechanics look as good as expected, with new tendrils-based powers and takedowns at your disposal.
Watch Miles glide through the sky with Web Wings
Spider-Man 2 will allow you to play as two Spider-Men! Firstly, you will be able to instantly switch between the two characters with a press of a button. Second, both Spider-Men come with some upgrades, including Web Wings! That’s right, traversal through the city of New York is about to get a lot more fun. In the video, you can see Miles Morales use his Web Wings to glide through the city at breakneck speeds as he tries to catch up with the Lizard.
Kraven the Hunter enters the chat
Kraven the Hunter makes his debut in this Spider-Man universe and he’s making his way to New York for his ‘Great Hunt’. While we don’t know much about what Kraven can do in the game, we know he is in search of an equal. Both Spider-Man will not only have to deal with the Symbiote threat but also a rather terrifying Kraven the Hunter!
New Spidey tricks for all
A highly-anticipated sequel needs some new gadgets and abilities to keep things fresh, and Insomniac Games looks to deliver on that. The gameplay footage shows us the new Web Line feature that allows our Spider-Men to sneak around the environment to get a drop on the enemies, literally speaking. Add to that a new dual takedown feature and the enemies don’t stand a chance. Speaking of new gadgets, Miles’ Spider-Man shows off his Web Grabber, which pulls enemies together in an isolated spot, as well as Thunder Burst and Chain Lightening, which are just electrifying to watch!
