Kitchen Tips: How To Vacuum Seal Food Without A Sealer
The video was shared on the Instagram page @lifehack.content. It simply says, “I was today years old. Use cold water to vacuum seal your food.” How does the hack work exactly? Here are the steps you need to follow:
- Take a reusable, airtight plastic ziplock bag and place the food item inside it.
- Seal the bag to around 80%. Leave a small portion open for air to escape.
- Now place the bag in a bowl of water. Take care to first dunk the bottom part.
- Do not allow water to enter the bag from the top opening. Lightly press the bag to help remove the air from the inside.
- As the bag begins to seal around the food item, it will stick to it closely. You can then seal the bag completely and store it in your refrigerator or freezer as required.

“I don’t think the water has to be cold.”
