Return of Shakib Al Hasan bolsters Bangladesh for India | Cricket News – Times of India
DHAKA (Bangladesh): Star allrounder Shakib Al Hasan is available for Bangladesh‘s three-match one-day international series against touring India starting next week.
Shakib missed the last series against Zimbabwe in August and Bangladesh went on to lose the Twenty20 and ODI series.
Before the Zimbabwe series, Shakib was instrumental in Bangladesh’s first victory against South Africa in South Africa with a 64-ball 77. Bangladesh later sealed its first ODI series triumph on South African soil by 2-1.
“Shakib’s return to the squad will further bolster our ODI squad,” chief selector Minhajul Abedin said on Thursday.
“India is a very strong side but we are hopeful of our chance because we’ll be playing at home. This squad can challenge India.”
This will be India’s first bilateral series in Bangladesh since 2015, when the home side won 2-1. The teams will follow with two tests.
The three ODIs are slated for Dec. 4, 7 and 10. The first Test is from Dec. 14-18 and the second from Dec. 22-26.
