Indore: State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation(SOTT) has mapped around 51 hospitals including 10 big ones to mentor them to increase organ donation.
The details were conveyed to hospital coordinators in a meeting held recently. The order signed by ex-officio in-charge SOTTO Dr Sanjay Dixit stated, “The authorities selected Mohak Hospital, CHRC, Vishesh Jupiter Hospital, Shalby Hospital, Care CHL Hospital, Greater Kailash Hospital, Medanta Hospital, Rajshree Apollo Hospital, Bombay Hospital and Super Speciality Hospital as reporting hospitals for the mentoring programme. All these are mapped with five or six hospitals each under the programme.”
“For better functioning of organ and tissue transplant in Indore, in case of brain stem death is reported in the hospitals (associated hospitals), then it will be mapped with respective mentoring hospital for further guidance and monitoring in organ donation,” he added.
About the programme, Dr Dixit said, “The mentoring programme is decided for smoothening the process of organ donation in case of brain stem cell death.”
“The reporting hospitals would train staff of associated hospital once in a month and help them understand the different aspects of it. In case a brain stem cell death patient is reported in associated hospital, the patient would be shifted to reporting hospital,” added Dr Dixit.
The SOTTO officials are continuously carrying out awareness activities and other measures to increase the cadaveric organ donation in the district as well as Madhya Pradesh. SOTTO history goes back to 2015 when it began the cadaveric organ donation in the state.
In one such initiative in March, the daily reporting is done as part of a drive to track the developments related to cadaveric donations.
The authorities however warned major corporate hospitals over their failure to report brain stem cell death regularly. There are hospitals which haven’t reported single brain stem cell death in last couple of years.
